 ??? RELAY FOR LIFE 2007

Should Chapter 377 have a team as it has for the past 3 years?  If so, we need team captains

and team members.

The Relay will be held on July 13 and 14 at

Lansing High School.   CHAPTER 377 HAS BEEN THE ONLY TEAM with any overt military connections, and CHAPTER 377 members have proudly raised Old Glory at Opening Ceremonies since 2003.

      DEWITT PARK CLEAN-UP

DeWitt Park in Ithaca is the location of the Tompkins County War Memorials from the Civil War to Vietnam.

For several years, the Sons of Union Veterans have volunteered to help maintain the grounds and monuments.  Last year, Chapter 377 joined with them to keep things at the park ship-shape.

The snow is gone, and it is time to spruce up the park for Memorial Day, Flag Day, and later on, Veterans’ Day.  Some of the jobs include mulching the trees and shrubs, edging the lawn, cleaning the monuments, and keeping the trash picked up on a regular basis.

Tending DeWitt Park is one way we can honor those who have lost their lives in service to this country.

If you can lend a hand, contact Holly at 539-7696 or pthollingsworth@aol.com.

Meeting Highlights

The meeting on April 2 was called to order at 7:30 PM.  We held elections.  Everyone ran unopposed.  Rene Sylvester is now on the board of directors.  There was no formal business because of elections, but we did have two guest speakers, Carl Bullock and Frank Proto.  They provided very good information for veterans.

            The meeting adjourned at 9:00.

From Chapter President

I’d like to thank Carl Bullock for attending our last meeting and talking to the veterans about all their VA benefits.  I’d like to thank Frank Proto for his update on the veterans’ cemeteries.  Hope that both of them can come again and keep us informed on more information as it comes through.

We had a very short meeting last month for elections.  The pizza from Todi’s was very good.   Thanks to the guys for chipping in for that and the sodas.

I’d like to thank everybody who showed up for the meeting.  They said that they learned a lot.

Looks like the snow’s gone for good although Mothers’ Day hasn’t gone by yet!

 ---Tony Evangelista, President
